“The best way of serving God is to help the needs of humanity?”.
MRASA is a non-profit organization which was established on the 14th of November 2008 and registered on the 24th of June 2009 with the Department of Social Development as an NPO (068-857-NPO). Its aims are amongst others; to uplift the plight of refugees and locals; religiously, socially, morally and academically.
The organisation was formed; following the May 2008 xenophobic attacks; when some of our people in South Africa turned against their African brethren, accusing them of stealing their jobs, houses, businesses, and taking the opportunities which are supposed to be theirs.
The attacks left more than sixty people dead and thousands displaced. Those who died; left their homelands hoping to find something which may change the conditions of their lives across the border; little did they know that they are going to meet their death in the hands of their fellow African brothers.
Under the Chairmanship of Mr. Wagogo Ramadhan, a team of dedicated and committed members from different parts of the African continent came together to provide information resources and create ways in which refugees can work together amongst themselves as well as the local communities so that all parties can equally play their respective roles in taking part in developing the communities.
This we believe could help in avoiding Xenophobia. The organisation appreciates the diversity amongst its members and the communities at large.
We are a dedicated and committed team of professionals who saw the need for such an organization to help and uplift this sector of the community
